Authentication

How Authentication Works

InterviewCracker uses a secure token-based authentication system:

  1. Initiate Login: Click "Login" in the desktop app settings
  2. Web Authentication: Your browser opens the login page where you sign in with Google
  3. Token Generation: A secure desktop token (ic_dsk_xxx) is generated for your session
  4. Deep Link Callback: The token is sent back to the desktop app via a secure deep link
  5. Token Storage: The token is encrypted and stored locally on your device
  6. API Access: All API calls use this token for authentication

Manual Token Entry

If the automatic deep link doesn't work, you can manually enter your token:

  1. Complete login on the web
  2. Copy the token shown on screen (starts with ic_dsk_)
  3. Open app settings and paste the token in the manual token field
  4. Click "Submit" to authenticate

Security Note

Your authentication token is encrypted and stored securely on your device. Never share your token with anyone. The token automatically refreshes to maintain your session.
